Opening Day at The Ruidoso Downs

May 28, 2021, is opening day at The Ruidoso Downs Racetrack. For generations, families have gathered at the racetracks to spend summers in the cool pines. Guests of all ages enjoy spending the day watching exciting live horse races.

Memorial Day weekend at Ruidoso Downs Racetrack features the top two-and-three-year-old quarter horses in the world competing in the Ruidoso Futurity/Derby Trails and the $25K John Andreini Memorial Stakes. 

Those who are interested can come in person or watch races online. Races take place every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday! Save yourself a seat by booking your tickets early!

Flying J Ranch Opening Day

Enjoy an evening of great chuckwagon cooking and western music, just like the cowboys did, at the Flying J Ranch. Since 1982, guests have enjoyed visiting the Flying J Ranch and experiencing the era of the Great American Cowboy.

Memorial Day at Fort Stanton Veterans Cemetery 

If you’re looking to attend a very special event this Memorial Day, then join us at Fort Stanton Historic Site. Located just outside the town of Lincoln in south-central New Mexico, visitors can honor veterans with dedications, a rifle salute, laying of the wreath, and placing flags on all graves.
